Mineola, a village in the Town of North Hempstead, was incorporated in 1906 and borders the Village of Garden City where the county seat is located and is home to many county government agencies as well as Winthrop-University Hospital, ranked among the top 5% of acute care facilities in the nation.

Mineola is centrally located in Nassau County with Jericho Turnpike the main commercial thoroughfare. Villages bordering Mineola include Garden City, Old Westbury, East Williston and Williston Park, along with the hamlets of Herricks, Garden City Park and Carle Place.
